Nawras launches another innovative service with its in-flight roaming service enabling Nawras Ajel (postpaid) customers to get more by being the first to use their mobile phones and PDAs on flights equipped with the AeroMobile communication system. AeroMobile’s equipment gives Nawras customers the opportunity to make and accept calls as well as send and receive SMS during their flight. Convenient billing takes place in the normal way with roaming charges clearly shown on monthly statements. The service begins with Emirates and will be extended to a number of other airlines in the months ahead. This service includes voice & SMS at this point of time and Data Roaming would come in place in the coming months.

Passengers onboard an aircraft will be made aware that network is available through crew announcements, in-seat pocket information and via overhead signs. The service is operated in cruise altitude only and not during take-off or landing.

No special settings are required and it’s as easy as roaming in another country.

Currently two Airbus A318 aircraft deployed - operating a business class only route between London City Airport and New York JFK. Onboard the aircraft SMS and GPRS services are available to passengers.

Qatar Airways
Currently six Airbus A320/A321 aircraft deployed - operating routes between Qatar and to/from Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. Onboard the aircraft SMS and GPRS are available to passengers.

TAP (of Portugal)
Commercial trial with one Airbus A319 aircraft. Routes to/from Europe including Cape Verde and Azores. Onboard the aircraft voice, SMS and GPRS are available to passengers.
